Hope in the Wake of the Storm

During a recent deployment with Cedarcrest Church, Sirens Project, and Rebuilding Hope, we found ourselves parked outside a Tractor Supply store, picking up equipment before another long day of cleanup.
That’s when Mrs. Kim spotted our trailer. Curious, she approached us and asked, “What’s this all about?”
We explained that we were in town to help survivors of Hurricane Helene, offering tree clearing and property recovery support to families still struggling weeks after the storm had passed.
Her face showed a flicker of cautious hope. She asked if we might come look at her property. We told her we’d need to check with our team leaders back at the church where we were staying, and that we’d see what we could do.
To be honest, she didn’t seem optimistic. It had been weeks, and no one had come to help her. Her yard was still buried under fallen trees. It’s a story we’ve heard far too often—people waiting, hoping, and feeling forgotten.
But that night, we put her name at the top of the list.
A Yard Full of Trees, A Heart Full of Thanks
The next day, Mrs. Kim became our first work order.

When we arrived, it was clear we had our work cut out for us. Her front yard was packed with dozens of downed trees. But we got to work. With four chainsaws running and a skid steer operator on site, our team cleared her property in just five or six hours.
The transformation was dramatic—but the real moment came afterward.
We gathered together with Mrs. Kim, prayed over her, and presented her with a Bible we had all signed. These are sacred moments—deeply emotional, filled with gratitude, and often tears. They’re a reminder that this work is about so much more than clearing debris.
A Home Untouched, A Miracle Remembered

What happened next left a deep impression on all of us.
Mrs. Kim asked if we would go with her into her house. She hadn’t set foot inside since the storm.
We walked in with her—and found, to our amazement, that her home had no damage. No water. No structural issues. Nothing. Just as she had left it. In the midst of chaos, her home had been protected.
More Than Cleanup—It’s a Calling

This is just one story among hundreds. Every yard we clear, every tree we move, is about more than the physical work. We’re there to listen, to encourage, to pray, and to remind people that they’re not forgotten.
We strive to present each family with a Bible, a small but lasting reminder that they are loved and seen.
It’s an honor to serve. It’s a privilege to be the hands and feet of Jesus in communities that have been hit hard by storms—literal and otherwise.
God gets all the glory in everything we do.
